1998 Shell Report “Profits and Principles – does there have to be a choice?”

This 1998 document, “Profits and Principles – does there have to be a choice?”, is about Royal Dutch/Shell Group’s (“Shell”) “financial, social and environmental” responsibilities. A part of a larger collection discovered by Jelmer Mommers of De Correspondent in a trove of internal Shell documents, this report is the genesis of Shell’s eventual advertising campaign of the same name.

The document outlines Shell’s membership in the Global Climate Coalition, their contributions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and their efforts to address “[c]limate change – the most serious and difficult issue for sustainability.”
