1994 GCC New Technology Export Guide News Release and Order Form

This 1994 Global Climate Coalition (GCC) press release was titled, “Resource Guide for Exporting. Also included is the Resource Guide order form. The industry-funded GCC opposed greenhouse gas regulations through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers from 1989 to 2002. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries.

GCC’s press release described the guide as a “compilation of US government and international agency programs designed to assist US companies seeking to export energy-efficient goods and technology to foreign markets.”

The press release explained, “because the vast majority of future emissions will come from developing countries, the export of environmental and energy-efficient technologies becomes ever more important.” The GCC highlighted that “despite the scientific uncertainty surrounding the predictions of climate change,” they support an improved, sustainable economy with “the added benefit of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” In the same GCC Bulletin covering the release of the export guide, the GCC further emphasized that, “higher CO2 levels would have no additional heating effect.”

This document is part of the private collection of Nicky Sundt, a Washington-based climate change science, policy and communications expert.
