1993 GCC Climate Watch Bulletin Vol. 1 Issue 9

This document is the Global Climate Coalition’s (GCC) September 1993 Climate Watch Bulletin (Volume 1 Issue 9). The bulletins were a part of GCC’s larger mission to oppose greenhouse gas regulations and contest the scientific validity of anthropogenic climate change through direct engagement and collaboration with affiliated climate deniers. Its membership spanned across the automotive, utility, manufacturing, petroleum, and mining industries. The bulletins generally updated readers on climate change policy and science developments.

The first page of the bulletin hosted the headline, “Post Reporter Finds Threat Uncertain.” In that article the GCC amplified journalist Boyce Rensberger June and July articles that covered the  viewpoints on climate held by James Hansen compared to climate denier Patrick Michaels. The GCC featured Michaels’ statements in the article: “…Michaels predicts that current trends, such as warmer nights and winters, will continue and perhaps even lengthen the growing season in agricultural regions. ‘The popular vision of climate apocalypse is wrong,’ Michaels concludes.”

This issue also contained the following pieces: “GEF Faces New Future,” “EPA Newsletter Highlights Business Opportunities,” “International Activity Steps Up,” “Atmospheric Update,” and “Recent OECD Studies On Climate Change.”
